Who's who? Jo Springford, environmental director for Apex Hotels

jo.pngGreenbang quite fancies Jo Springford. She’s the new environmental director for Apex Hotels.

Lovely Jo is going to do what Greenbang’s really interested in – reduce consumption levels and make all that green work save money and create profit.

She’s also working in corporate and social responsibilities for the company (and creaming off a bit of PR at the same time).

Apex says:

Her first objective is to review all the hotels’ consumption levels and investigate and implement new technology or practices to reduce levels and, in turn, utility costs.

She says:

“My new role is simply a continuation of the successful work we have undertaken. Apex’s green initiatives are a focus for all members of staff and I am excited to be championing the work that is being done. Apex, are environmental leaders in the hospitality industry and I intend to further reduce carbon emissions and consumption throughout the group, consequently promoting awareness of environmental issues”.

Jo has already played a considerable role in Apex becoming a greener company, helping to implement visionary eco-friendly practices within all five of their UK hotels. Apex have already been recognised for their efforts, having been and awarded three Golds in the Keep Edinburgh Clean Awards 2006, three Golds in the Green Tourism Business Scheme 2006, Gold for sustainable tourism in the Visit London Awards 2006, declared VIBES regional winner for East of Scotland and nominated for a Business Commitment to the Environment (BCE) award and several Hotel Review Scotland awards.
