Verizon, Consert offer energy management for utilities
Verizon Wireless and Consert Inc. have announced the release of a complete energy management turnkey solution for utility customers that runs on Verizon’s 3G wireless network.
The Consert Energy Management Solution enables utilities to create and load resources for peak and intermediate periods, improve demand forecasting, facilitate compliance with federal and state standards, automate meter reading and improve communications with end users. According to Consert, the result is lower capital and operating expenditures as well as increased operational efficiency.
The integrated energy management solution features four main components:
- Creation of a smart residence or small commercial entity
- A consumer portal
- An online portal for utilities
- Machine-to-machine communications enabled and managed through the Verizon Wireless network
