Even investors are stockpiling their own GPUs now to ensure their startups have enough power when they need it.
Decentralised compute is not new. It draws on the combined processing power of multiple machines across different machines in different locations. It’s commonly used in crypto mining and back when I were a lad, the SETI screen saver used the combined compute power of millions of machines to analyse radio signals for possible signs of extra terrsialt life.
