Swedish, French firms ink fuel cell deal

Sweden’s Morphic Exergy Fuel Cells has signed a distribution agreement with Narbonne Associates of France for its Polaris 140 portable fuel cell. The order has a guaranteed minimum value of SEK 48 million for Exergy, and deliveries are set to begin in September.

Polaris 140 is a compact portable fuel cell that, in this particular application, runs on NBH4, a chemical compound that is distributed in liquid form (dissolved in water) and forms hydrogen continuously at the same rate as it is consumed in the fuel cell.

Narbonne will sell Polaris 140 to owners of house trailers and motorhomes, who can attach it to the electrical systems of their recreational vehicles to charge existing batteries.

Morphic, an engineering group specialising in fuels cells and wind power, has operations in six countries: Sweden, Norway, Japan, Greece, Italy and Switzerland.
