Swedbank joins organisations observing Earth Hour

earth-hourSwedbank has joined the ever-growing list of organisations expected to participate in this year’s Earth Hour, set for 8:30 p.m. on 28 March.

First established by the WWF in 2007, Earth Hour encourages people worldwide to switch off their lights for one hour in an effort to raise awareness for action on climate change.

In addition to turning off as many lights as possible at its offices in Kiev, Stockholm, Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn, Swedbank is also urging its 9.9 million customers and 21,000 employees to participate in Earth Hour observations.

More than 1,700 cities in 80-plus countries have so far signed on to participate in Earth Hour 2009, according to the WWF, shaping it up to become “one of the greatest voluntary actions the world has ever seen.”
