Sustainable Cities Institute launches online 'toolkit'

The National League of Cities’ Sustainable Cities Institute has launched a redesigned website to offer practical information and helpful resources to city leaders.

The new site is designed as a “complete sustainability toolkit” for cities.

In addition to profiles of individual cities and what they are doing to improve sustainability, the new site provides reports, fact sheets and other resources in several key topics areas: buildings and energy, climate adaptation and resilience, equity and engagement, food systems, land use and planning, transportation, and water and green infrastructure.

The site includes such resources as a workbook for cities pursuing a “complete streets” policy with safe and well-planned roadways that serve multiple functions, a guide to measuring greenhouse gas emissions, and a report on how to create green and affordable housing for residents.

Founded in 1926, the National League of Cities represents and advocates for around 19,000 communities across the US.
