Smart-grid vision draws innovative crowd
Who’s who in smart-grid innovation? The coming World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi features some names you’re probably very familiar with … and some you might not have heard of before.
Some of the companies that will be on hand to showcase their smart-grid, energy-related products include:
- EEI (Equipaggiamenti Elettronici Industriali), an Italian firm that develops static converters to connect variable, renewable power sources like wind, solar and hydro-electric to the network. It’s also made power units for the magnets used at Geneva’s CERN laboratories.
- EKO Instruments, an 80-plus-year-old Japanese firm that makes, among other things, sensors for measuring heating and lighting conditions in buildings, and instruments for evaluating photovoltaic cells, modules and arrays.
- Mulk Enpar Renewable Energy, a joint venture of the multinational Mulk Holdings and India’s family-owned Enpar Group. Its products include a solar collector mirror for photovoltaic and concentrating solar power, as well as reflector systems and parabolic troughs that can also be used for desalination and steam generation systems.
