Smart-grid-focused Alstom acquires UISOL

Alstom has acquired Utility Integration Solutions Inc. (UISOL), a Santa Clara, California-based company that develops and commercialises DRBizNet, a software platform for demand response management. The acquisition is aimed at strengthening Alstom Grid’s capabilities for network management and smart-grid solutions.

UISOL, which employs 44 employees, generated total sales of over $11 million (€7.7 million) in 2010.

UISOL has two main activities. The first one is to intervene as a technology consultant for utilities and public authorities, in particular for the integration of distributed energy resources. The second is to develop and commercialise software platforms – and supporting services – that mainly cover demand response, integration of renewable energies, energy storage and charging points for electric vehicles.
