Schneider Electric takes EV charging outdoors
Energy management specialist Schneider Electric has just come out with its latest offering: the EVlink outdoor electric vehicle (EV) charging station.
The outdoor stations are the newest addition to the company’s EVlink portfolio, which features a line of residential and commercial EV charging solutions. The availability of the EVlink outdoor chargers follows the launch of Schneider Electric’s EVlink indoor residential charger this past February.
The new EVlink outdoor charging stations are standards-compliant to ensure compatibility with any electric vehicle entering the market today. They also feature a dual charging option in one pedestal to better support multiple parking stall locations, and use radio frequency identification (RFID) card scans for authentication to ensure that only approved users can access the charging station.
Schneider Electric is also partnering with the city of Fort Collins in Colorado to roll out EVlink chargers throughout the city.
“Fort Collins owns and operates a progressive municipal electric utility,” said Mike Freeman, chief financial officer for the city. “Our businesses and residents have a history of taking the lead on energy conservation and energy efficiency practices. Through our partnership with Schneider Electric and Spirae Inc. we are continuing that tradition by rolling out the area’s first EV charging stations.”
In addition, Schneider Electric is offering a new EcoXpert training and certification program for electrical contractors helps them to grow their businesses and increase sales opportunities through renewable and energy efficient products like EVlink charging stations. The program aims to help contractors in advising, selling and installing a broad range of EV solutions across commercial, industrial and residential applications.
