S Korean utility to spend $7.2 bn on smart grid
South Korea’s state-run power company plans to spend $7.2 billion in smart-grid developments between now and 2030.
Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) expects to invest around $360 million a year over the next five years to improve facilities for electric supply and distribution.
The company plans to develop new smart-grid technologies with an eye toward tapping markets in Southeast Asia, Russia and Central America. Among the systems it plans to work on is technology for estimating the power generating capacity of solar energy and other renewables.
