Petra Solar launches smart-grid management platform for utilities
Petra Solar, a New Jersey-based cleantech company, has launched a new energy management platform aimed at utilities looking to deploy smart-grid applications.
The IntelliView smart-energy platform provides analysis of smart-grid application data to enable remote command and control of large distributed energy systems. The system provides a dashboard that give utilities a view of all elements of the communications network. It also delivers alerts, performance summaries and mesh networking diagnostics to help identify and solve problems.
IntelliView includes an Energy Management System module that lets utilities that have deployed Petra Solar’s SunWave photovoltaics get a centralized view of the “virtual power plant” made up of SunWave units over a broad geographical area. Users can perform analyses to ensure peak generation and maximum benefit from SunWave deployments.
“The robust platform is scalable to future smart-grid applications, including energy efficiency, energy conservation, grid reliability and smart microgrids,” said Shihab Kuran, president and CEO of Petra Solar.
Petra Solar’s Network Operations Center (NOC) also expands its offering from support for just SunWave systems to the option for full remote 24/7 operations of Petra Solar-designed smart-grid networks.
The company’s SunWave system is a smart-grid-enabled photovoltaic module that can be mounted directly onto utility distribution and streetlight poles to deliver solar-generated electricity straight into the grid. SunWave modules can also be deployed in both residential and commercial settings.
