Our key to the future: Sustainable cities

Happy Valentines Day!

As usual, it’s all go at Greenbang and there are few things I wanted share with you.

First of all, thank you to those who came to last Thursday’s webinar on what to do with smart grid data — we had a great turnout and we also landed a few new members.

As you’ll see if you go to Greenbang.com, we have a slightly new approach to 2011. This year our focus is only on smart technology and how we develop our cities and grid for the best quality of life. This focus has allowed us to concentrate on consulting and producing research on the capabilities of sustainable technologies, cities and policies.

Getting FIT

Last month we released an in-depth report on the UK’s Feed-In-Tariff, by Raphael Raggatt — that boy is going places. He’ll be running a brief webinar soon on some of the top-line findings.

This month, senior analyst Shirley Siluk Gregory’s report on smart grid communication standards goes live. She’ll also be presenting a webinar soon — stand by for details.

And we have our collaborative research (the Greenbang Smart Matrix) on brand leadership in smart cities. This looks at the marketing vs capabilities of companies trying to operate in and “own” this area. There are some great findings, and the leaders are not who you’d think they would be … We’ve already been presenting sneaky previews of this to members and it’s gone down like hot cakes from a bakery. I’m quite chuffed about this one.

Following the success of the smart data webinar, we’ll be running the Greenbang Smart Data Summit in London this May. Great discounts are available for our members and the lineup looks to be really good. We’ll be looking at macro-data management and granular data use. Pricing and intelligence strategies are of course key. If you’re interested, let us know and we’ll save you a place. Next year, we’ll be running this event in China, which should be a fun project.

Smart in the city

In September, we have the Sustainable Cities Summit, where we’ll be launching the Greenbang Smart Cities Index. This ties in greatly with an initiative we just launched called Greenbang City Leaders. This is for people who design, build and work to improve cities by sharing information. It’s a collaborative platform for webinars and exchanging experiences. Membership is free for City Leaders. Please email me to find out more. We’ll be running this event in various cities over the coming year.

Finally, while whitepapers have been popular with clients, we are now looking to develop the whitepaper format into high-quality, short animations. How cool will that be? More people tune in to animations and they look brilliant. You can also deliver a ton of content in a short amount of time.
