Osram unveils 'green light source of the future'
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has released what it says is one of the world’s smallest LED (light-emitting diode) lights in the 1-watt sector.
The ultra-white Oslon SSL LED measures just 3 x 3 mm but has a luminous efficacy of 100 lumens per watt. Designed to be used as a spotlight, desk light or ceiling floodlight, the lamp can replace halogen bulbs and can also be used in retrofit applications.
“Its ability to handle high currents efficiently enables our customers to create particularly energy-efficient and cost-saving lighting solutions,” said Gunnar Moos, SSL marketing manager at OSRAM. “The Oslon LED therefore has all the attributes to become the ‘green’ light source of the future.”
In addition to ultra-white, the LED will be available this summer in neutral white and warm white.
