'Opinion-making' Climate Group wins Charity Award
The Swedish Postcode Lottery has named The Climate Group a beneficiary of its 2009 Charity Award, in recognition of its “substantial contribution in opinion making” and in accelerating business and government action on climate change.
The Climate Group will receive a donation of SEK4.2 million (close to €380,000), which it says it will use to help forward its work with Rt Hon Tony Blair in pushing for a successful global deal on climate change.
Niclas Kjellström-Matseke, CEO of the Swedish Postcode Lottery, and Swedish nature photographer Mattias Klum were both on hand to present the award at the Swedish Open in Båstad last week.
Founded in 2005, The Swedish Postcode Lottery aims to highlight and support organisations working for a better world. Past recipients of awards include Save the Children, The Red Cross, WWF, UNICEF, Greenpeace and The Clinton Climate Initiative.
