  • The California city of Santa Barbara has activated its first large-scale solar-energy system, a 384-kilowatt facility developed with help from Suntech Power Holdings;
  • The Water Environment Research Foundation is offering a $100,000 (US) award to promote imaginative research in water reuse, wastewater and other water-related areas;
  • The British government has awarded Jaguar Land Rover a £27 million grant to help it develop a fuel-efficient turbodiesel hybrid vehicle;
  • The US government needs to better help state and local agencies make infrastructure decisions best adapted for a future impacted by climate change, according to a new report from the National Research Council.
