Mission Power taps SmartGridCIS for smart meter prepaid service

Mission Power will use SmartGridCIS’ Express software to support its advanced metering system (AMS) prepay business in Texas.

Atlanta-based SmartGridCIS provides AMS prepay and time-of-use billing software and customer information system for utilities and retail energy companies. It was the first AMS prepay solution to launch in Texas.

Mission Power plans to market its smart meter prepaid service under the label, “Mission Power Express.” The utility aims to be the leading provider of prepaid electricity services in the Hispanic market.

One of multiple deployment options offered by SmartGridCIS, the Express package is a stand-alone billing and CIS solution that provides prepaid services and time-of-use (TOU) rating capabilities.

“Our intent with SmartGridCIS Express is to enable quick integration to the Smart Meter Texas Portal through a rapidly deployable platform, at a very attractive price point,” said John Bastian, president of SmartGridCIS. “The level of interest has grown tremendously over these past months.”
