Japan pools industries to go for CCS
The Japanese power and oil industres are acting very responsibly it would seem. 24 companies from this sector are to jointly create a carbon capture research organisation. Whilst Greenbang isn’t sure if it’s a marketing move or driven by a genuine desire to reduce the industries’ footprints it’s undoubtedly a great piece of CSR.
According to Reuters:
Participating in the venture called “Japan CCS Co Ltd” are 11 utilities, including Tokyo Electric Power Co, five oil refiners, four engineering firms, two oil and gas developers, one steelmaker and one chemical firm.
And from the original newswire:
24 Japanese power and energy-related companies have jointly launched a research company to develop carbon capture and storage technologies.
