GridWise Forum puts spotlight on energy transformation

Leaders in government and the energy industry plan to come together in Washington, DC, this November for the second annual GridWise Global Forum to discuss best practices and the next steps for transforming the world’s electricity grids.

Among the speakers scheduled to appear so far are:

  • Bob McDonald, Chairman of the board, president and CEO of Procter & Gamble
  • Michael Niggli, president and chief operating officer for San Diego Gas & Electric
  • Susan Story, president and CEO of Southern Company Services
  • Beth Comstock, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of GE
  • Kevin Kelly, CEO of Heidrick & Struggles

Co-chairing the event, which is scheduled for Nov. 8 – 10, will be Bob Shapard, chairman of the GridWise Alliance, and Patricia Hoffman, assistant secretary for the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) at the US Department of Energy (DOE).

“Access to a reliable and affordable electric supply is critical to this nation’s success,” Shapard said. “Transformation of the electric system can enhance the security and reliability of the energy infrastructure and facilitate recovery from disruptions to the energy supply. Ms. Hoffman has been a national leader on these issues and I look forward to working with her in this capacity.”

Both Shapard and Hoffman are scheduled to deliver opening remarks on the first day of forum.
