GridPoint takes energy management to the cloud

GridPoint has released its GridPoint Energy Manager, a unified platform for enterprise and utility energy management.

The software is designed to complement existing hardware and service offerings to manage the deployment and operation of energy endpoints, such as building management systems, solar arrays, electric vehicle and home energy management technologies.

“The integration of software, hardware and services is critical to the success of a customer’s energy management strategy,” said John Spirtos, CEO of GridPoint. He said the new software is “designed to be the central nervous system of enterprise and utility energy management programs, delivering a new level of insight into a customer’s energy and efficiency efforts.

The software provides a dashboard that lets users integrate, aggregate and manage energy endpoint information to get a better grasp on energy cost-saving issues. GridPoint spent six months testing the cloud-based platform with numerous beta customers, including Siemens Metering Services. The company has now begun to roll out the platform to more than 7,000 existing sites under management.

“Successful energy management depends on a combination of reliable, accurate data and tools that are instinctive to use,” said Lee Jones, product manager for Energy Management at Siemens Metering Services.

The software release comes on the heels of GridPoint’s announcement of its reseller partnership with Siemens Metering Services, which is focused primarily on the UK and European markets.
