Gallery: 5 speedy, efficient rapid-transit buses, part 5
Still little more than a gleam in Siemens’ eye (it’s in development, though) is the e-BRT, a concept unveiled at the UITP Congress and World Exhibition in Dubai in April 2011. The all-electric omnibus will recharge for 20 seconds at every stop … just long enough to get the power it needs to make it to the next stop. The zero-emission buses are also being designed to convert braking energy back into electricity and to be steered by smart management systems at each stop to ensure the bus stops precisely on the charging point.
