FirstFuel Software adds cleantech veteran to board

A company that uses analytics software to help buildings improve their energy use has added a heavy-hitter in the cleantech sphere to its board of directors.

FirstFuel Software’s newest board member is Phil Giudice, who was previously a commissioner with the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER), as well as the state’s Undersecretary of Energy. Formerly senior vice president of the energy management company EnerNOC, Giudice also sits on the board of directors for the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Advisory Committee and is a member of the DOE’s State Energy Advisory Board.

Giudice currently serves as a managing director of Rhumb Line Energy, a strategy consultancy focused on commercializing and deploying clean-energy technology.  He has also served as a senior partner and leader of Mercer Management Consulting’s global energy utilities practice, was vice chairman for the National Council on Electricity Policy and has been a board member with both the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency.

FirstFuel co-founder and CEO Swapnil Shah said Giudice’s experience will be “invaluable in helping guide our growth.”

FirstFuel works with utility companies by analyzing usage data to help their commercial customers save energy and money without the need for on-site building assessments. By eliminating the time, effort and cost associated with such assessments, FirstFuel aims to help utilities and their customers improve efficiency more quickly.
