Firm installs its 100th charging point in London
Energy Saving Trust reports that Elektromotive has installed its 100th electric vehicle recharging point in London.
Working with EDF Energy, Elektromotive has been installing recharging points in the city since 2006, when it put up its first unit in Westminster.
“Access to charging stations across the UK will be crucial to the successful shift towards zero-emissions motoring,” said Calvey Taylor-Haw, managing director for Elektromotive.
Earlier this year, London Mayor Boris Johnson announced his goal of making the city the “electric car capital of Europe.” His plan calls for 25,000 charging stations in London by 2015, with a requirement that all new developments and 20 per cent of all new car parking spaces be equipped with charging points.
“The time for simply talking about electric vehicles is over — we need real action on the ground to make the electric vehicle an easy choice for Londoners,” Johnson said upon announcing the iniative.
