EU forum to explore 'Science Beyond Fiction'
The EU has created a new forum to explore future and emerging technologies.
The theme of the first European Future Technologies Conference, set for 21 – 23 April in Prague, is “Science Beyond Fiction.”
The conference will feature sessions on such subjects as “Open Source Science,” “Striving for Realism in Virtual Worlds,” “Envisaging Self-Powered Nanodevices” and “Through the Crystal Ball 2030: Europe’s Position in the Digital Revolution.”
Exhibitors will also be on hand to showcase technologies like natural-voice interfaces for electronic devices, smart home control with brain-computer interface and metamaterials in Europe.
The event has two goals:
- To foster a dialogue between science, policy and society on the role and challenges of interdisciplinary ICT related long-term research towards the development of policy options for increasing Europe’s creativity and innovation base; and
- To bridge diverse European research communities and disciplines and to stimulate the creation of new research collaborations empowering Europe to take the lead in future information technologies.
