E.ON offers details for proposed Penrith wind farm

wind-turbines-in-a-fieldEnergy company E.ON plans to hold a public exhibition on Wednesday and Thursday to inform residents about a planned five-turbine wind farm at Lazonby Fell near Penrith.

The exhibition, which will feature details about the proposed 10-megawatt to 15-megawatt installation, is set for 1 to 7 p.m. both days at Lazonby Village Hall.

“I’d urge anybody living within the area to come along to the exhibition and talk to us about the site to find out why we think this is such a great location for a wind farm,” said Liz Ambrose, project developer for E.ON.

E.ON has announced a goal of cutting electricity-related carbon emissions by 10 percent between 2005 and 2012. It says it now has 1,300 megawatts of renewable energy capacity under development, and plans to spend £50 million in new technologies over the next 10 years.
