Entergy prepares for New Orleans smart meter test

Entergy New Orleans is looking for customers who want to sign up for its SmartView test program. The program aims to place smart meters and other equipment in the homes of up to 7,400 qualifying customers in New Orleans.

Entergy has expanded the pool of eligible customers to encourage more participation in the test. Qualified participants must be Entergy New Orleans residential electric customers with active accounts since June 1, 2010, as opposed to Jan. 1, 2010 as originally announced. They also must meet specific household income requirements. Customers have until April 15 to sign up.

Entergy New Orleans plans to begin testing the smart meters on June 1.
