Dixon: Time to go after 'anti-social' energy-wasters

electric-outletWow. We’re little short of amazed at today’s comments from Richard Dixon, head of WWF Scotland, who says that willful energy-wasters should be prosecuted by the Government.

As reported in The Herald, Dixon was speaking on BBC Radio Scotland when he called energy-wasting an “anti-social act” that should be punished much like driving under the influence of alchol.

While he didn’t advocate having the police show up at energy-wasters’ homes and carting them off to jail, Dixon said a more “directive approach” could be used to penalise people financially for misusing resources. With both Government and the general public in support of conservation and fighting climate change, he said, those who still refuse to play along need a wakeup call of sorts.
