Cool lighting innovator gets $10m cash boost

Nuventix, a company that makes advanced cooling technology, has received a $10 million investment from GE Energy Financial Services and The Bergquist Company, along with Braemar Energy Ventures, CenterPoint Ventures, InterWest Partners and Rho Ventures.

The company has created an LED (light-emitting diode) cooling technology for energy-efficient lighting and was one of the winning firms in GE’s ecomagination Challenge for smart energy innovations.

GE also  recently entered into a license agreement to access Nuventix’s patent portfolio. GE Lighting’s scientists and product developers see the Nuventix SynJet technology as an enabler of broader and faster LED module adoption.

“Nuventix’s technology can improve the quality of LED lights by making them brighter, longer-lasting and potentially cheaper,” said Steve Briggs, vice president of marketing and product management at GE Lighting.

According to Nuventix, “The SynJet module creates turbulent, pulsated air-jets that can be directed precisely to locations where thermal management is needed. From LED heat dissipation to computer cooling, SynJet technology is helping designers solve cooling challenges requiring high reliability and flexible form-factor implementations.”
