Contest hopes innovation can revive Greek economy

Cisco is betting that a new green-energy idea or other technological innovation can help pull Greece out of its ongoing economic crisis.

The “Make Innovation Work – MIW” competition, organized by the American Hellenic Chamber of Commerce with the collaboration of Cisco, aims to foster innovation and competitiveness in Greece by recognizing an innovative idea that can be implemented in the country and generate jobs and revenue. The winning submission will receive $100,000 and help with implementation.

Sectors included in the competition include green energy, tourism, alternative agriculture, and transportation and shipping. The contest is open to any person or company residing in Greece or Cyprus, and any member of the Greek diaspora worldwide.

Other sponsors of the competition include Accenture, Attica Ventures, BAHAS, GRAMATIDIS & PARTNERS, Coca-Cola HBC Greece, Ernst & Young, i4G SA, Microsoft, Piraeus Bank and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
