- Drivers who use GPS devices in their vehicles use less petrol than their GPS-free counterparts, new research has found;
- A leading HR magazine reports that companies stand to benefit by taking advantage of Government vehicle excise duty changes that promote greener transport;
- Carbon prices are likely to crash over the next few months, Point Carbon predicts;
- US-based Aeronautica Windpower has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Norwin A/S of Denmark to manufacture new, commercial-size wind turbines in the US for the North American and Caribbean markets;
- Electric vehicle owners can plug in their cars and forget about them, knowing they’ll get the cheapest electricity available and won’t crash the grid — using a new technology called the Smart Charger Controller that was developed at the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory;
- Head Research Directors at CICERO Knut H. Alfsen and Grete Hovelsrud report on how Norway is balancing the climate issue with the socio-economic climate;
- The Met Office says the coming summer is “odds on for a barbecue summer,” with temperatures across the UK likely to be warmer than average and rainfall near or below average;
- Following a successful second funding period, the first three Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft Research Centres will again be extended and will continue for another four years, with each receiving about €25 million in funding.
