- Climate Counts’ latest scorecard, this one focused on child equipment and toy manufacturers, finds that such firms are “by and large, ignoring their own impact on climate change“;
- The UK Energy Research Centre today launched an in-depth review of policies which could significantly reduce transport C02 emissions. The report finds that the Government must do much more than promote electric cars if it wants rapid and deep cuts in transport emissions;
- Comesys Europe Limited, a manufacturer based in Cramlington, has won a $15 million contract with Yangzhou Yaxing Motor Coach Co. Ltd. to fit its green engine technology into hundreds of eco-friendly buses;
- Spain’s Iberdrola reports that its carbon dioxide emissions declined by 11 per cent in the first quarter of this year;
- Douglas McLeish, corporate markets director at npower, explores how the Government’s new mandatory Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme could save businesses £1 billion by 2020 if an effective energy management programme is put into place.
