- Arup and John Holland today launched a new business partnership to focus on emerging infrastructure work in the oil and gas sector;
- Hannover Leasing is using three SunEdison photovoltaic solar energy systems in Spain’s Lleida province; the systems have a combined capacity of 4.3 megawatts;
- The UK’s biggest celebration of wind energy takes place over nine days this June, with more than 20 wind farms and supporters opening their doors across the country;
- Siemens is acquiring a roughly 25 per cent stake in BGZ Beteiligungsgesellschaft Zukunftsenergien AG. The investment will enable Siemens to ensure its access to further projects in the field of sustainable power generation;
- Tesco is to roll out charging points for electric cars at a number of its stores. The supermarket chain will set up the charging facilities in its car parks and will start the initiative in London, with the intention of expanding it nationally if the programme is a success;
- Valence Technology Inc., a US-based manufacturer and supplier of lithium iron magnesium phosphate energy storage solutions, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Siemens Drive Technologies Division to develop modular and scalable energy storage systems compatible with a standard interface of Siemens’ ELFA® Hybrid drive marine propulsion system;
- Centrica plc, the parent company of British Gas, today announced it has reached an agreement with Canadian Superior Energy Inc. under which Centrica could acquire a 45 per cent interest in gas development Block 5(c), located off the south east coast of Trinidad, for £87 million in cash.
