- Ericsson and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Sweden today announced a partnership aimed to encourage the smart use of telecom solutions across industries to reduce global CO2 emissions;
- A new discovery concerning the properties of green sulphur bacteria might prove useful in the development of a new generation of solar cells;
- UK consumers have achieved a saving of a million tonnes of CO2 whilst cutting household bills by £200 million, reports the Together campaign;
- Scientists are a step closer to making environmentally-friendly “magnetic” refrigerators and air-conditioning systems a reality, thanks to new research published today in Advanced Materials;
- Arup has won the Technology Award at this year’s MCA Management Awards for its work designing and delivering an integrated mobile communications infrastructure for BAA at Heathrow Terminal 5;
- US-based Sion Power Corporation and Germany’s BASF SE have announced a joint development agreement to accelerate the commercialisation of Sion Power’s proprietary lithium-sulphur battery technology for the electric vehicle market and other high-energy applications;
- Eradicating greenhouse gases from power stations and cars, trucks and aviation must be Europe’s next policy move to tackle climate change, said European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.
