Missed a few cleantech headlines over the past 24 hours? Not to worry: Greenbang is here to keep you up to date:
- French farmer Jean-Luc Westphal is working to build what Reuters calls “one of the largest integrated installations of photovoltaic systems … yet built.” Once in operation, the 36,000 square metres of solar panels are expected to generate enough electricity for 4,000 homes;
- Eckhard Boles, a researcher at Goethe University in Frankfurt, has discovered a new enzyme that “teaches” yeast cells to ferment waste sugar into ethanol. He is now investigating ways to develop new yeast straing that could convert plant waste into biobutanol;
- Swedish firm Sweco has won two new contracts to develop offshore wind farms in Sweden. The two contracts together are valued at about €450,000;
- Redmond, Washington-based Bionavitas Inc. has unveiled a new Light Immersion Technology™ that “dramatically increases” biofuel yields from algae;
- BTU International this week received a $2 million (US) order for thin-film solar equipment from what it says is a “new, major, thin film solar customer.”
