Car owners in China to pay emission tax
Car-owners have been through a bad time in China.
First is the four-day car-banning practice, and then it came the no-car day, and now the government plans to charge car owners for their auto emission.
“Can those officials just leave us alone?” one of my friends complained.
Well, obviously not. If your car is not friendly to the environment, the government will not be friendly to you.
Yang Chaofei, an official from the state environment watchdog says that State Environmental Protection Administration will team up with Ministry of Finance and State Administration of Taxation to set regulations of auto-emission tax, which may be paid when buying gas for the car, according to Xinhua (Chinese language link)
The regulation and the taxation are expected to be enforced in 2010.
