China builds world's highest power transmission line

The State Grid Corporation of China has selected Nokia Siemens Networks’ optical transmission platform to help ensure consistent power supply for the world’s highest power transmission line.

The corporation is building a Qinghai-Tibet power grid to improve and optimise power allocation in that area. The power grid is the largest construction project in the region and is scheduled to be operational by mid-2012.

It will also enable the western region to achieve improved and faster economic development. In a large-scale project like this, critical functions such as operations, maintenance and safety depend on secure and uninterrupted communications.
