Build 5 PCs for charity, keep the 6th

It’s a nice idea. Instead of letting old PCs head off for the landfill site, the Free Geek organisation has a nice scheme that gets people involved–and gives them an incentive to do so. Volunteers join up, help refit 5 old PCs over 24 hours, and then get to keep the 6th. (More detail here.)

As WorldChanging points out, it doesn’t eliminate the fact that it’s possibly going to end up in landfill at some point anyway, at least it ekes a few more years out of its life cycle.

So when is the London charter opening, we wonder?
