As grid sees 'biggest changes in a century,' S&C grows

S&C Electric Company is expanding its UK-based Power Systems Services operation to meet the needs of Europe’s evolving and increasingly complex electricity grids.

The expansion is needed to help its customers manage “the biggest changes in power delivery systems in over a century,” said Andrew Jones, managing director of S&C Europe.

The addition of three new engineers to S&C’s European team continues the growth of the company’s European support operations, which accelerated with the formation of S&C Europe LLC in 2008.

The team will perform analytical studies to understand power delivery issues ranging from reliability problems to renewable energy interconnection issues. Engingeers will then apply these findings to deliver detailed, comprehensive recommendations designed to improve the reliability, stability, and efficiency of the power system.

With rapidly growing use of distributed generation, renewable energy sources, and electric vehicles, utilities in Europe are navigating major changes in how electricity is supplied and delivered.
